Our Flock Our
goal at Rogers Family Suffolks is to produce a complete sheep...heavy muscled
and structurally correct, with an outstanding pedigree. This sheep should be raised
predominately on forage to achieve this goal. We expect all our brood ewes to
have a lifetime lambing percentage of at least 200%. While 4-H and FFA lamb projects
are where many of our lambs start, we wanted our flock to have enough volume and
capacity to be used as breeding stock and not just the show ring. Our lambs are
heavy bodied, heavy boned and easy keeping.

Our flock
stays at 20+ select ewes, and we are continually trying to improve the flock and
our lofty goals. Our flock is continually culled for only its finest examples
including frame size, longevity, muscle, correct feet and legs, structural soundness,
economic performance, smooth shoulders, character and show ring appeal. Through
the maintenance of complete and accurate production records, Rogers Suffolks has
been able to narrow the focus on traits best suited for the continued improvement
of our flock. Rogers Suffolks has entered its third year of involvement with the
Voluntary Scrapie Free Certified Program (VSFCP). |
